It seems that many people these days are still running Windows XP - even my employer. At home, I've finally gotten used to using Windows 7, despite 8.1 being most popular. Are you finding it hard to keep up with new releases in operating systems? I personally don't want to keep upgrading every year. I'd prefer something stable that I can stick with.

As support for Win XP ended last year, I changed my PC from XP to Ubuntu 12 Linux. I'm quite happy with Ubuntu, except some Adobe Flash Player problems.

Why do you want to pay (a lot of) money for those Microsoft guys, while there are the same and even better features and qualities available fully free, zero cost?

There are lot of free and even open source PC operating systems, like Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora, Arch, FreeBSD, Chrome OS, ReactOS, SkyOS and more. Some very special also.
